Find Coaches

We require at least two coaches per team. While most teams are coached by parents and teachers you can also reach out to community groups for volunteers. No experience is necessary.

You can check for established coaches in your area by using the TeamUp Portal.

Register with FIRST LEGO League

Teams must register with the national branch of FIRST LEGO League to get an official team number. Detailed instructions can be found here.

Join the Listserv

Coaches and mentors will be automatically added to the Listerv after completing registration at firstinspires.org. Encourage additional volunteers to stay in the loop about FIRST LEGO League Virginia + Washington D.C. by signing up here.

Recruit Team Members

Teams must have 2-10 members. Resources on how to find team members can be found here.

Wait to Receive Your Official FIRST LEGO League Team Number

You will not be eligible to register with FIRST LEGO League Virginia + Washington D.C. until you receive your official FIRST LEGO League team number. You will receive a notification from firstinspires.org that a team number has been assigned.

Register with FIRST LEGO League Virginia + Washington D.C.

Once you receive your official team number, teams must register with FIRST LEGO League Virginia + Washington D.C. in order to participate in regional tournaments. Keep in mind, this may take up to a week while your information is transferred. Detailed instructions can be found here.

Select Tournament Preference

Registration for tournament preferences will open on October 1st and will close on October 10th. Log into Team Manager Account to register.
