EVENT MATERIALS SUBMISSION

Submitting your Event Materials

At a VA-DC FIRST LEGO League event, teams will be asked to submit materials approximately 5 days before their event. Coaches will be able to submit their team’s work through this webpage. Please refer to the guidance below when submitting materials.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Materials can be submitted independently of each other.
  • Videos can be submitted two ways: upload through our site or provide a private YouTube link. Please submit using only one of those ways. If neither of the options work, please reach out to Kaitlin Ilnitzki.
  • Please submit what you can! We know teams are facing a variety of challenges. We are here to celebrate the work of your teams!

Innovation Project

Project videos should be very similar to the project presentation at an in-person event. Videos should be no longer than 5 minutes. Because of scheduling, judges will need to stop videos longer than 5 minutes. While this video can be edited, we are not expecting high production or professional editing. There are TWO ways to submit your video, please only submit through one of options below.

Option 1: Submit a Video Link (Recommended)

Teams can submit one of the following links. Uploading large video files to any of these platforms will take some time depending on file size, bandwidth, site traffic, etc.

  • Unlisted YouTube video link (Please make sure it is Unlisted, Judges will not be able to view a Private video)
  • Private Vimeo link
  • Dropbox link
  • Google Drive link (Please sure this is a shareable link, so judges can review the material)

Option 2: Upload Video (MP4 or MOV file)

Upload MP4 or MOV file below. File size is limited to 256MB. Videos are being kept in a secured Vimeo account until after the competition. Here are some tips on video compression for Vimeo. Uploading large video files to our site will take some time depending on file size, bandwidth, site traffic, etc.

Robot Design

Robot Design judges will take a look at one of the team’s Robot Game rounds and a sample of the team’s code from at least one mission before meeting with teams. When submitting robot game rounds below, teams will indicate which one of their official submitted rounds the judges should look at. Team will submit an example piece of code below.

Core Values

Core Values judges will be looking for examples of FIRST Core Values within the Innovation Project and Robot Design portions of judging. At the end of the the team’s judging session, teams will have a few minutes to reflect on the Core Values. While teams are not asked to submit anything, if the team would like to share anything regarding Core Values, they will be able to share their screen. We ask the teams do not share video or audio elements. Teams could share a quick slide or image if a visual element is needed.

Robot Game

Teams will be asked to submit three (3) UNEDITED robot game round videos. For more guidance on what should be included in the video, please watch the Robot Game Filming Guidance video. Teams are also encouraged to use the Practice Round as an opportunity to get feedback from their Head Referee before filming their official matches.
